Project: Red Scarf

So its nearing nearing our anniversary and we want to celebrate it by doing something cool, so we decide to take a mini adventure to the Costa del Sol, then on to Morocco and then Gibraltar, J was well versed in this trip as he had done it a quite a few times before with his parents and other family members. The trip would start out as a look down holidays past and a great way to remember great times with those now past and deal with new futures and plans.

Wheels down quite late on in Malaga and we travel straight through air port passport control and grabbed our cases and planned taxi, we were in Calahonda within the hour and arrive at the Dona Lola resort, a child hood haunt of j’s. Everything was ready to close so we quickly do the Scottish thing and go to to the local chip shop! formally known as Allan’s Plaice which opened in 1989, J had visited lots of times and even although it had changed hands the food was still perfect! we both had a perfect stodgy supper and some COLD CANS OF IRN-BRU. we finished our supper and butties and headed to Mates bar another infamous pub thats been open here for about 30 years that hasn’t changed a bit! we come back in the morning and get a proper scottish expats breaks fast with IRN-BRU at the local Irish bar.. go figure.

In the morning we decide to head to the local super market, and stack up on some supplies, we love european supermarkets! Probably why we love shopping at Liddle and Aldi.

The next day we first headed up to the hill top village of Mijas ill create a separate blog post for that

When we arrive back in Calahonda we decided to go and visit J’s old family time share apartments.  Unfortunately they were quite dilapidated and run down but still held their old rustic charm.

We traveled round the facility and went into some of the old buildings that were now abandoned before moving out and checking out the old royal beach club which had transformed itself from a 70 old quaint bar into a young and almost hipsteresk cafe del mare style venue, it was really cool and we had a few beers on the beach before walking back along the beach to the hotel for some dinner and an early night.

Day three: we strolled along beach toward Puerto Cabopino which is the more affluent area of Calahonda, its where ex pat celebrities once holidayed and lived in the mid 90’s, in fact his is where the legendary British 1990’s tv show Eldorado was filmed and was a hot bed for tourists back in the day.

This place is still amazing thought, its restaurants and bars are still  classy as hell an easily one of the safest resorts on the coast. don’t ever let the press or terror warning put you off going somewhere,  best and safest (yet most expensive) beach in the area. Well worth a check out as its its own little resort with lots of good vibes and sights.

Lots of memeorys were brought back that day. J had been dealing alot with stuff with losing his dad and his mums ilness but the trip brought back good memeoyrs of good times, happy memeorys and hopes for our own future, we were exited to be traveling again and we have so much in store for the next few days, It’s amaizing to be on the road again. good practice for if we decide to do a fuller run.
